In 1996 the USRA found itself faced with
member demands for new-and-improved event reporting,
faster service and interactivity with the national
office. The communications department took up the
challenge and Linda Mojer began to develop the skills
needed to design, coordinate and populate the first of
several websites containing everything racquetball.
From formatting, indexing and placing
the official rulebook online to identifying an online
tournament management system for fan use, internet
properties were developed and refined to keep the
association as current as its budget allowed.
Designed as an archival site, USRA.org
housed the official rules of racquetball; all time lists
of national champions; directories of state affiliates &
directors, award winners and program materials, along
with international news and updates; sanctioned
tournament listings; court specifications and online
entry forms to national events.
As a separate supplement,
RacquetballMagazine.com was designed to offer selected
feature and instructional items from its counterpart
bi-monthly “hard copy,” along with national rankings,
calendar, advertisers directory and an up-to-the-minute
news source on national and world events.
