From 1994-1997, a separate event was created for skill level competition. In 1998, skill divisions were incorporated into the U.S. National Singles Championships, where subsequent titles are recorded

Historically speaking ...
The Evolution of National Skill Level Competition:
-- In 1994, a separate National Skill Level Championship was established.
-- In 1995, the National Skill Level Championships were once again conducted independently.
-- In 1995, National Skill Level divisions was played in conjunction with an amateur "U.S. Open" and winners were recognized as a Level Six national champions for ranking purposes.
-- In 1996, the National Skill Level Championships were recognized and included as competitive divisions at the pro U.S. OPEN and doubles divisions were dropped.
-- In 1997, the National Skill Level Championships were again recognized and included in the U.S. OPEN.
-- In 1998, the former National Skill Level Championships were incorporated into the U.S. National Singles.
-- For purposes of clarity, all results have been inserted into the correct years (with duplicate entries in 1995), according to the current recognition structure.
