- Write down the matches you want to report (or mark up a copy of
a small drawsheet)
- Note the hometowns of the players in each match
- Collect all the scores [no scores, no coverage ...
guaranteed!]
- Telephone the newspaper/television station
- Connect with someone who will transcribe your results, then
read them clearly and slowly.
- Explain scoring: matches are two games to 15, with a tiebreaker
to 11.
- Read scores in full = 15-10, 9-15, 11-2, (not: won-10, lost-9,
won-2).
- Pause often and be prepared to spell any unusual names.
With a typewriter, telephone and a fax machine ...
- Track matches on a set of small draw sheets
- At the end of competition for the day (or a selected
division/round), type up results
- Fax results to all local papers and TV stations
- Follow up by phone to see if results were received
- Re-transmit if necessary

*In some instances, you may be able to "dial-up" the computer
at your local newspaper and transmit results directly. To access a newspaper
computer, you need to make advance arrangements with the editor to obtain
