Purpose: To provide a marquee event for the sport of
racquetball, featuring competition among the top men's [IRT]
and women's [LPRA] pro
tour athletes, plus a USRA Level Five championship.
The pro competition offers the largest cash award structure in the
sport. A level-five amateur competition determines and recognizes the
nation's finest grassroots players, in designated age divisions, plus
in rated "skill levels" of "A", "B", "C"
and "D". Also encourages development of racquetball as a
lifetime sport.
- Established: 1996
- Frequency: Annual (In November)
- Entrants: 200+ pros, 400-600 amateurs
- Eligibility: Entrants must be USRA
members. In age division competition, players must meet the
proper age requirement as of the first day of the tournament. In
skill divisions, players must qualify for participation by receiving
certification/rating in their entered skill division, either by
screening by the American Professional Racquetball Organization [AmPRO], or by validation by their state organization.
- Awards: $50,000 in cash awards in professional draws. Gold,
Silver, Bronze, Consolation awards in all amateur divisions.
- Judging: Pro competition conducted in single elimination
championship rounds. Amateur rounds played in single elimination.
- Conditions: USRA rules govern, including
mandatory protective eyewear
requirement. Amateurs must pre-qualify by being rated in their skill
division by a USPRA certified instructor.
