Eyeguard Requirement |
The following excerpt from the Official Rules of Racquetball
cites Rule 2.5(a), which stipulates the use of ASTM Regulation Protective Eyewear for
racquetball in all sanctioned event competition. Please review this ruling
carefully, particularly if you wear prescription eyeglasses.
Rule 2.5 APPAREL (a) Lensed eyewear designed for racquetball,
and which meets or exceeds ASTM F803 or Canadian (CSA) impact standards, is
required apparel. This rule applies to all persons, including those who
must wear corrective lenses. The eyewear must be worn as designed and at
all times. A player who fails to wear proper eyewear will be assessed a
technical foul and a timeout to obtain proper eyewear. A second infraction in
the same match will result in immediate forfeiture of the match. [See Rule
3.17(a)9]. The current ASTM Regulation
Eyewear list can
be found on the USRA's website and is available in hard-copy form, upon request from the USRA's
national office. |
