U.S. Junior Olympic Championships

about the event ...

Purpose: JUNIOR TEAM U.S.A. National Team Qualifier. Selected finishers earn a spot on the team, and become eligible for goodwill tours abroad and international competition. Also encourages junior racquetball competition, coaching and instruction, plus the formation of state junior teams, (an overall state "team championship" trophy is also awarded).

Junior Team Qualifying Levels:
Top two finishers in 18- singles from Junior Nationals (4);
Top two finishers in 16- singles from Junior Nationals (4);
Top two finishers in 14- singles from Junior Nationals (4);
Winners in 18- doubles from Junior Nationals (4);
Winners in 16- doubles from Junior Nationals (4);
Winners in 14- doubles from Junior Nationals (4);
[plus Winners of High School Nationals (2)].

  • Established: 1974
  • Frequency: Annual (In June)
  • Entrants: 400 - 500
  • Eligibility: Entrants must be USRA members and qualify for participation by competing in a recognized state singles championship, or other designated regional qualifier.
  • Entrants must meet age be 18 or younger as of January 1 of competition year, Must comply with junior "code of conduct" during competition.
  • Awards: Gold, Silver, Bronze, 4th in Boy's & Girl's championship divisions, plus state team trophy. Medallions in red, white and blue consolation divisions.
  • Judging: Single elimination in championships rounds, plus "Olympic Format" satellite divisions in red, white and blue designations. Play conducted in two-year incremental age divisions from age "8 and under" to "18 and under" (i.e. 8-, 10-, 12-, 14-, 16-, 18-), plus special rules "multi-bounce" 8 and under division.
  • Conditions: USRA rules govern, including mandatory protective eyewear requirement. Players must pre-qualify by competing in a regional event.
