event notes Friday, August 30: Most divisions have played out into a final two rounds, with eight  divisions being re-seeded into single elimination for Saturday. In those divisions, players reached the top of their "flights" after preliminary round play, and qualified for straight-draw berths. Below is a "leader board" for those Saturday rounds, and we've arranged to try and upload final results by Sunday ... look under "Finals & Finishers" for that information when it becomes available.
leader board: saturday
Only one women's division will be played out in a single-elimination round for medals on Saturday, and seven men's divisions have been re-scheduled into a quarterfinal round. Remaining finishes will be determined by the overall, final tally of points earned in round-robin play.

Thursday, August 29: Top-level officials from one end of the spectrum to another are on hand to press-the-flesh and compete in a couple of rounds with peers, including IRF Secretary General Luke St. Onge (60+), and pro tour Commissioners Dave Negrete (IRT/40+) and Ed Willis (LPRA/40+). Also on hand is U.S. OPEN director, Doug Ganim, in the 35+ division.

The round-robin format of the event does not allow preliminary round reporting of results, but final standings will be publicized here just as soon as they are finalized and made available by tournament organizers.

Wednesday, August 28: In one of the largest draws for a World Seniors event, approximately 265 players began round robin play in the eleven recognized age divisions (35+ through 85+) that comprise "senior" level competition. The USA leads in the team rosters, followed by a large contingent of 35 players from Mexico. Also represented are Canada, Cuba, Ireland, Nigeria, and Uruguay. For the first time in the event's history, souvenir polo shirts have been emblazoned with the country names of each player's homeland to give the event a truly international flavor.

leader board: opening rounds
Where "flights" are indicated, players will advance out of their designated round-robin playoffs to be placed into a single elimination draw for continued medal round competition on Saturday. For example, in Men's 35+ two (2) 10-person round robins are played in preliminary rounds, after which the top four from each group "advance" into a single-elimination, quarterfinal playoff. For remaining divisions with only one "flight" scheduled, final positions will be determined on the basis of the final point tally from the preliminary round-robin only. Defending 2001 champions are bolded.
