Peck Named Junior Team Coach

by Christie Hyde

Texan Gregg Peck was selected as the U.S. Junior National Team Coach in May. Peck dominated the pro tour in the 80’s, and now has re-directed his focus into teaching juniors about the sport he loves. “My first love is teaching kids to play racquetball,” Peck said following his appointment. “I want to give them the fundamentals and let them build their own games off their strengths and weaknesses.”

Peck will select two assistant coaches to help him with the U.S. Junior National Team. “I want to find assistant coaches who can bring several things to the table,” he said. “I want people the kids will listen to, respect and work well with. A coach must have the ability to have fun, because if the kids are having fun, their skill level will increase drastically.”

The U.S. Junior National Team members are selected on the basis of their finishes at the U.S. Junior Olympic Championships and U.S. National High School Championships.
